How to Apply for Funding

Our Funding Focus

Tom's Trust funds organisations whose work contributes to making London a safer place by providing opportunities for disadvantaged young people who might be at risk of falling into street crime or gang culture.

We seek to fund a wide array of proven effective solutions from educational support for younger children right through to projects aimed at reducing reoffending rates and rehabilitating ex gang members.

Eligibility

You must be a UK registered charity, CIC or social enterprise with clearly stated, measured and reported charitable objectives.

Your work must benefit the lives of disadvantaged children and young people under the age of 24 who live within the Greater London (M25) area. This does not exclude the provision of excursions and residential projects for young Londoners outside the M25. Projects may include educational, vocational, developmental, rehabilitative, therapeutic, creative and cultural enrichment initiatives.

We will consider funding of key youth-facing roles, facilities and equipment, continuation funding, extension or expansion of existing funded projects, seed capital, as well as new, stand-alone projects, provided that there is a clear and realistic description of the number of young people who will benefit, for how long, and in what ways.

All applicants will be required to provide recent audited accounts. We reserve the right to refuse funding without qualification.

Applications

The trustees meet to make funding decisions four times a year. The quarterly deadlines for receiving applications are as follows:

March 1st, June 1st, September 1st and December 1st

We generally cap our donations at £5,000 but will consider each application on its merits.

Eligible applications received before the end of the day on each date will be considered, and a decision or request for further information or to visit your organisation will be issued as soon as possible after the relevant meeting.

Applications should be made in writing (to the address below) and provide an outline of what your organisation does, your latest impact report, the amount requested, a clear description of how the money will be used, who will benefit, how, and how the impact will be measured and reported.

If it is a first application, in most cases a visit to your premises will be arranged prior to the donation being made.
